About This Site
The Laser Cut Wood Art is a small, independent site about making and buying laser cut and wooden home decor. We write about desktop diode laser engravers, basswood plywood for cutting, wooden Christmas ornaments you can paint or engrave, wooden door wreaths, and layered wood wall art. Every piece is written from the craft table: what was easy, what wasted an afternoon, and who each product actually suits.

Workshop Safety
Laser engravers can cause permanent eye damage. Wear safety glasses rated for your laser's wavelength every time it is powered on, including for anyone else in the room, and never look at the beam or its reflection. The orange or tinted cover on a machine is not a substitute for proper eyewear unless the manufacturer says it is.
Cutting and engraving wood is a fire risk. Never leave a running laser unattended, keep a fire extinguisher rated for ordinary combustibles within reach, clear scrap and dust from the bed and honeycomb regularly, and use air assist where your machine supports it. A small flame on the material is the moment to stop the job, not to watch it.
Burning wood and plywood glue makes smoke and fine particles you should not breathe. Run the laser only with real ventilation to the outdoors or a proper fume extractor. Never laser PVC, vinyl, faux leather or any material you cannot identify, because some release toxic or corrosive gas. Keep children and pets away from the workspace while the machine is on, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for wiring, grounding and maintenance.
Finished decor carries its own small risks: wooden ornaments and wreaths are flammable, so keep them away from candles, fireplaces and hot bulbs, and keep small painted pieces away from young children who may put them in their mouths. Nothing on this site replaces the manual that came with your machine.
